| 内容記述 | [Abstract] The present study experimentally examined the psychological effects produced by short-term dog therapy through the use of psychological scales and implicit association test (IAT). Three psychological scales, A-state items in State-Trait Anxiety Inventory Japanese Version (STAI-J; Shimizu & Imaei, 1981), Relaxed Feeling Scale (Koike et al., 2007), and SRS-18 (Suzuki et al., 1998) were used to measure state anxiety, sense of relaxation, and stress responses. In this experiment, the effect of a short-term contact with a large therapy dog was compared with that of a simple break for the same amount of time. In the scores for all factors included in the psychological scales, significantly more favorable effect was obtained after implementation of the dog therapy compared to the simple break. Furthermore, in some of factors (state anxiety, depression-anxiety, and total scores of stress response), the positive effects of dog therapy were already occurring before the sessions were conducted. In the results of IAT, the positive effects of dog therapy were observed only before the sessions were conducted. The results indicate that brief interaction with a large dog produces an increase in relaxation and decrement of state anxiety and stress response. | |||||||||||||||||||||
