内容記述 | [Abstract] Phase diagram of binary system CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide) : OIPh (o-iodophenol) was investigated by DSC, TG methods along with polarizing-microscopic and visual observations. Owing to the large difference in cohesive energy and volatility between the two component substances, the phase behavior is rather complex particularly in the CTAB-rich region. It was found that CTAB and OIPh produce 1: 3 intermolecular complex in addition to the 1: 1 complex already reported. Both of the complexes undergo incongruent melting at about 305 K and 365 K, respectively. Formation of another 2: 1 complex in the high temperature region is proposed. The 2: 1 complex produces solid solution of mesomorphic nature in a limited composition range with the high-temperature metastable phase of CTAB. Thermodynamics of formation of the 1: 1 complex in the crystalline state is discussed. | |||||||||||||
