| 内容記述 | [要旨]本調査の目的は、2012年度から2016年度の入学生が入学直後の4月上旬に受けた英語プレースメントテスト（G-TELP）のスコアの変化の傾向を把握し、今後の英語関連科目のカリキュラム、テキスト選定などに役立てることである。5年間の初年次英語プレースメントテストのスコアを分析した結果、学部全体では平均点は3点ほどの伸びが、中央値は120点台から140点台へと大幅な上昇が見られた。しかしながら、平均的な英語レベルはおおよそ中学卒業レベルから高校初級レベルぐらいであり、中学卒業レベルに満たない英語力の学生がかなりいることがわかった。現在、上位クラスのみに少人数クラス制を実施しているが、今回の調査結果を踏まえ、基礎英語教育にも積極的に取り組む必要があるだろう。 [Abstract]This paper analyzes the results of General Tests of English Language Proficiency (G-TELP) as a placement test given to the incoming freshmen from 2012 to 2016. The average score of the Faculty of Biology-Oriented Science of Technology (B.O.S.T.) in 2016 increased by 3 points in comparison with in 2013 and the central value in 2013 which had been in the 120s rose to the 140s in 2016. It is a remarkable increase. However, the average English proficiency level has hovered between the junior high school graduate level and the senior high school entry one. It means there are a considerable number of students who do not fully understand English at a junior high school level and it suggests the critical need for supporting them. |
