| 内容記述 | フランスやスペインと並んでアメリカ合衆国(以下, アメリカと表記)は, 代表的な観光大国と言われる。19世紀にあっては農業大国, 20世紀に入ってからは工業大国と呼ばれ続けたアメリカであったが, 1970年代における2度にわたるオイルショックを契機として, 現在にあっては工業大国と呼ばれることは少なくなった。 本稿は, 観光大国と呼ばれるようになったアメリカの観光産業がアメリカ経済の中にあってどのような位置にあるのか, 付加価値, 雇用者数そして輸出額などを検討することにより検証したい。あわせて世界にしめるアメリカの観光産業のポジションも検証する。観光産業自体は, 労働生産性の低い労働集約的な産業である上に, 平和を脅かすテロ事件や戦争そして現在進行している金融危機に端を発した経済大不況には極あて弱いが, 大交流時代を迎え, アメリカの観光産業が益々重要な役割を担っていくことを指摘する。 （英文） By the turn of the century, the travel and tourism industry in the U. S. had become one of the largest industries and employment sectors in the U. S. economy. Travel and tourism is expected to account for more export earnings than any other manufacturing industry. It appears that the U. S. regularly has a trade surplus in international travel and tourism, with the largest surplus to date occurring in 1996. This article presents the performance of U. S. travel and tourism industry through travel and tourism satellite accounts and the effect of international travel and tourism on trade, even though travel and tourism industry is labor intensive like other service industries. If it is also strongly affected by the level of economic environment, this industry will continue to play an important role in the future U.S. economy. | |||||||||
