| 内容記述 | This report is concerned with the effects of weeds on the growth and yield of Satsuma Mandarin in view of the environmental factors. The results are as follows. 1) As the weeds were growing, the seasonal changes of temperatures of both the surface and inside (15cm below the surface) of soil in the control plot were showed the same pattern as those of sheet covered plot. 2) Evaporation, light intensity and air ventilation below the canopies of the orange trees were dependent to the growth of weeds, and in some cases these were extremely decreased. 3) In very hot and dry period in summer, weeds were useful for the conservation of soil water by the same manner of the ground-covered sheets. 4) Fruits setting on the lower branches of the orange trees were reduced and the percentage of the wounded fruits were increased by weeds, respectively. 5) From these results, it is considered that weed injury of orange commonly may be mainly due to undesirable condition resulted by weed growth, although the competition of nutrients and water between the orange trees and weeds is occured only at the critical levels of these factors. | |||||||||||||||||
