| 内容記述 | [Synopsis] This study reported the effects of an educational program using a field observation of the sex ratio (♀/♂) of the Rumex acetosa population on students' interest in statistics. The observed sex ratios of the R. acetosa population, which are located on the inner bank of the water-reservoir in the Nara Campus, Kinki University, were 1.07 (ranging 0.74-1.28 between blocks) without being significantly sex-biased at the observation on April 20th and 1.50 (ranging 1.17-2.33) with being significantly female-biased ( x^2= 8.4, P < 0.01) at the observation on April 27th. The above sex ratios, however, were relatively low comparing with those observed on adjacent agricultural fields (ranging 3.68-4.67 between populations), which had been exposed under relatively high mowing pressures. Questionnaires to the students supported that this educational program effectively increased their interest in statistics over 80% comparing with the interest before carrying out this program (43%). | |||||||||
