| 内容記述 | [Synopsis] This study reported the effects of an educational program using a field observation of the sex ratio (♀/♂) of the Rumex acetosa population on students' interest in statistics. The observed sex ratios of the R. acetosa population, which are located on the inner bank of the water-reservoir in the Nara Campus, Kinki University, were 1.07 (ranging 0.74-1.28 between blocks) without being significantly sex-biased at the observation on April 20th and 1.50 (ranging 1.17-2.33) with being significantly female-biased ( x^2= 8.4, P < 0.01) at the observation on April 27th. The above sex ratios, however, were relatively low comparing with those observed on adjacent agricultural fields (ranging 3.68-4.67 between populations), which had been exposed under relatively high mowing pressures. Questionnaires to the students supported that this educational program effectively increased their interest in statistics over 80％ comparing with the interest before carrying out this program (43％). | |||||||||
