内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 This paper is the continuation of research by Lee (2022), and is a contrastive linguistic analysis of the terms of address in the Japanese film Let Me Eat Your Pancreas and the Korean terms chosen to correspond with them in the subtitles. Terms of address include many elements, and through them we can not only see the social relationship between the speaker and the listener, but we also can apprehend the psychological state of the speaker with regards to the listener. The terms of address used in film lines not only express the relationships between characters in the film, but also have the function of conveying narrative information. Considering this, we can see that it is important to translate such terms of address in subtitles. In this paper I follow the categorization of terms of address previously laid out in earlier research and analyzed the terms of address that appear in Japanese film lines and the terms applied to Korean subtitles. From the results I conclude with a confirmation that there is a limit to what can be translated in subtitles due to the linguistic characteristics of both Japanese and Korean.
