| 内容記述 | [Abstract] Polysemy in English sentences based on non-structural differences can be explained by the hitherto proposed Quantifier Raising Principle if the sentences contain two or more quantifiers; however, the ambiguity found in English sentences containing adverbials, and not quantifiers, can hardly be given principled explanation. In this paper, I will demonstrate that we can successfully explain the polysemy in question through Quantifier Raising Conditions if we postulate that NPs found in such sentences can be made quantifiers under certain conditions. I also provide a newly proposed theory called the Bundling Theory to explain adverbial-related sentences completely. This paper finally aims to explore the possibility of solving all the problems related to polysemy through the Bundling Theory. | |||||||||
