| 内容記述 | [Abstract] The ambiguity in English sentences which is not based on S-structural differences cannot be fully explained by the previously proposed Quantifier Raising Principle; however, I can give a principled explanation to the residual problems left unsolved if we postulate the following three Quantifier Raising Conditions: Quantifier Number Condition, Quantity Condition, and Inter-quantifier Maximal Projection Category Number Condition. This paper assumes the new theory centering on the three conditions. Along with verifying the reliability of the above theory, I also consider the new findings concerning factors decisive for the differences between vagueness and polysemy. | |||||||||
