| 内容記述 | 【概要】本稿の目的は, 都市競争力およびその評価の基準について論じるものである。アダム・スミス(1776)が国民経済における商品の特殊化および交換という概念を私たちに示してくれたことで, これが効率およびより高い物質的な生活水準をすべての参加者にもたらすことを明らかになった。それ以来, 競争力という概念は国家レヴェルでの経済活動に適用されている。今日の都市にとっていえば, 挑戦はいっそう重要なことになる。原材料産地や港, 交通的便宜のような先天的に恵まれている都市は次第に現れにくくなりつつあるが, どんな都市でも, 市民のさまざまな需要, 繁栄および競争力を持つ経済が保証されている現状ではないだろう。競争力アセスメントおよび率先的な経済計画は, すでにエキゾチックなものとしてなくなりつつ, それらはすべての都市において経済が生き残るためのツールに過ぎないだろう。そして, すでに明らかになったのは良好的な循環を実現するために, 活力や競争力の有する都市こそ国民経済の基礎となる。本稿はこういった都市競争力とその評価について具体的なデータを用いて検討する。 【Abstract】 In this paper, I would like to propose argues a way of city competitive and its evaluation. Since Adam Smith (1776) introduced us the concepts of specialization and exchange of goods among national economies and demonstrated that this would bring efficiency and higher material standards of living to all participants, the notion of competiveness has been applied to economic activity at the level of the nation. For cities today the challenges are even more crucial. With growth no longer privileging cities located near sources of raw materials or ports or crossroads of transportation routes, no city can assume it will have a thriving, competitive economy that will meet the needs and aspirations of its citizenry. Competitiveness assessment and proactive economic planning are no longer exotic luxuries; they are the tools of survival for any urban economy. And to return full circle, we can see that healthy, competitive cities are the base for a healthy, competitive national economy. |
