内容記述 [Abstract] In this paper, we investigate the mental health condition of students in first grade of Nursery Course in Kyushu Junior College of Kinki University (KJC) by doing a questionnaire survey (UPI) and free descriptive survey. On the basis of the results, we consider an effective support for them in our college. The results of the survey are as follows. First, there are many students under serious mental health conditions among respondents. These students seem to have needs for support to continue college life steadily. Second, we found out seven categories about contents of the problems or worries that students have by analyzing free descriptive answers. We named these categories, feeling like a burden toward their school work, worry about relationships between friends in school, hesitation in career decision as nursery school and kindergarten teachers, anxiety for work environment or condition after being nursery school and kindergarten teachers, loss of motivation to be a nursery school and kindergarten teachers, negative self-image, and anxiety for physical and mental health of themselves. We found that the students have various types of problems and our college has room for improvement to meet their needs. Therefore, as college staffs, we have to support them by organizing supporting structures for following up on college students after entrance. Especially, it seems to be important and effective that making the most of mental counselors' ability or specialization at student support room systematically. With that view, we pointed out that colleges have to consider how to put mental counselor and student support room to practical use sufficiently.
