内容記述 | [Synopsis] Among cereals commonly grown in central and eastern Europe the priority is being given to wheat, rye, barley, triticale, oats and maize. Fusarium culmorum, F. graminearum, F. avenaceum, F. nivale are most often considered as the main pathogens, prevailing in the fundamental group of cereals, but F. moniliforme, F. graminearum, F. subglutinans as pathogens of maize. Mixed infections of several F. species occur rather under natural field conditions. Studies on mycotoxin production and accumulation in natural and experimental infections have been largely developed. The accumulation of at least 15 F. mycotoxins have been proved in commonly growing cereals. Correlation can be found between accumulated mycotoxin concentration and the pathogen colonization in host plant tissues. Thus, prevention of plant disease may be assumed as one of fundamental strategies towards reasonable constrains of mycotoxin production resulting in a decrease of plant products contamination and soil-substratum infestation. Among other nonchemical methods, the plant resistance breeding is one of utmost interest on account of its potential influence on the improvement of crop healthiness. Current status of cereals resistance breeding — research and practice — to toxigenic Fusarium species complex diseases in centraleastern Europe, based on synthetic compilation of selected literature is presented. In some aspects, a contrast between research and practice has been pointed out. |
