内容記述 | [Synopsis] In vitro production of trichothecenes, deoxynivalenol, nivalenol, and their derivatives was studied in rice and corn cultures using 9 isolates of Fusarium graminearum which were obtained from corn and barley samples. These isolates were used for evaluation of toxin production and pathogenecity after artificial inoculation to 5 corn cultivars. Three criteria were used for the evaluation ; disease severity, the reduction of kernel weight, and the concentration of toxins in infected kernels. A significant interaction was observed between the corn cultivars and the Fusarium isolates in both disease severity and kernel weight. The corn cultivars showed the significant differences of resistance to corn ear rot in disease severity and the reduction of kernel weight. The kinds and the relative amounts of trichothecenes produced in the cultures were consistent with those in infected kernels with some exceptions. It seems that resistance ranking to different isolates was not the same and the resistance differences could not be defined properly demonstrated using a sinlge isolate. The resistance could be defined properly only as an average reaction to different isolates. |
