内容記述 | [Summary] The purpose of this paper is to reveal how systematically the realizations of the English concept of DISMISSING are well-organized, that is, well-structured whereas those of the Japanese and Korean equivalent concepts are not, in terms of cognitive linguistics. This systematic structures of DISMISSING in the English language is realized colorfully and observed lexically as in: (1) DISMISSING implies getting an employee out of a three-dimensional physical space such as a company, firm, organization and the like. (2) An employee would never be willing to accept DISMISSING but resists it. (3) So, the more fierce/radical the employer's means to get an employee out of the three-dimensional physical space becomes, the more firmly the employee resists it. (4) The employer's most fierce/radical means shows a cultural difference between English (especially American) people and Japanese/Korean people. | |||||||
