Introducing some electro withdrawing groups to the azole anion and some electron donating groups to the azole cation decreased the viscosity of ionic liquids. In these substituent effects to azole anion and azole cation, the anion and cation charge are delocalized over substituent groups. The decrease in the anion and cation charge density weakens the cation-anion interaction of ionic liquids. As a result, the viscosity of ionic liquids becomes lower.
