| 内容記述 | When slaves were forcibly taken from their homes in Africa and brought to North America to live, work, and die in servitude, they brought with them their culture. This included music and dance, which had been used for generations to express their feelings. Africans still use songs to criticize, to protest, for social commentary, and to resist oppression. Slaves used a variety of means to protest and resist their condition; for example, secret meetings, songs which encouraged escape and sabotage. Slaves sang of a desire for freedom and sang to warn others of impending danger. They both overtly and covertly protested their enslavement. To resist covertly and not endanger their lives they would use ambiguous language and coded language. (和文） アフリカから人々が奴隷として北米に強制的に連行され、生活・労働し、死を迎えるよう強いられた時、彼らは自分たちの文化を北米に持ち込んだ。この中には彼らの感情を表現すべく何世代にも渡って用いられた音楽やダンスも含まれる。アフリカ人たちは歌を用いて、社会を啓蒙するための批判・抵抗を試み、抑圧に対して反抗した。彼らは自分の置かれた状況に立ち向かい抵抗するため様々な手段を用いた。例えば、逃亡やサボタージュを奨励するための秘密裏の会合、歌、などである。彼らは明示的にあるいは秘密裏に奴隷制に対して抵抗した。奴隷たちは自由への願望をこめて、また差し迫る危険を仲間に知らせるために歌った。抵抗を秘密裏に行い自分たちの生命を危険にさらさないように、彼らは曖昧な言葉や暗号化された言葉を用いた。 | |||||||
