The sodium and potassium contents of cells of 3 strains of Halotolerant yeasts (Sy-F-6, Sy-F-13)and Halophobic yeasts (S-A-2) were determined after growth in a standard medium of varied salt concentration Measurement of intracellula Na^+ indicated that intracellular Na^+ concentration decreased in proportion to the increase in salt concentration.
