From among these, the only species that we have so far succeeded in transplantation is chinook which came from North America to New Zealand. This success may have been brought about owing to the behaviour peculiar to chinook and also to the environment where it was transplanted. But, anyway, this is a singular phenomenon in the whole world for the time being. This time we have made a research on the genealogical position of this chinook among Oncorhynchus from the view point of the internal structure of valvula cerebral ending. (1) Oncorhynchus fall into three groups: chinook belongs to the same group that masu salmon, sockeye, and chum do. (2) Chinook ranks in between masu salmon and coho, but a little nearer to masu salmon. (3) The order of the morphological differentiation of this group is as follows: masu salmon → chinook → coho → sockeye → chum.
