| 内容記述 | [Author abstract]The glossy abelia, Abelia grandiflora REHD., which was introduced into Japan in the 1920s, is widely planted in public gardens, at the verge of roads, and many other places. The tree seems to be infested rarely by insect pests, but details about its pest fauna are unknown. We studied the insects infesting the glossy abelia in the Kinki district of Japan. Only five species, Aphis spiraecola PATCH (the dominant species), Eumeta minuscula BUTLER (the subdominant one), Lyonetiidae sp., Microleon longipalpis BUTLER, and Odontopera arida (BUTLER), were found to inflict injury on the tree, but their population densities were very low. Rearing experiments of E. minuscula showed that the glossy abelia was not unsuitable for the growth of all individuals of that species. Study of newly introduced glossy abelia, with few insect fauna, may give information about insect-plant relationships. [著者抄録]造園木として近年広く植栽されているアベリアの害虫の種類と発生量を近畿地方の各地で調査した。その結果,アベリアに対して明らかな摂食が認められたのは,ユキヤナギアブラムシ,チャミノガ,ハモグリガの1種,テングイラガ,エグリヅマエダシャクの5種類であった。これは1種類の樹木に寄生する昆虫の種類数としては,非常に少ないもので,それらの発生量もかなり少なかった。また,チャミノガの飼育実験では,アベリアはチャミノガに対して栄養的には必ずしも不適ではないことが示唆されたが,他種の植物から採集し,その後アベリアに餌を変えた幼虫の生存率は著しく低下した。このように,アベリアには害虫が発生しにくいことがわかったが,その要因について若干の考察を行った。 | |||||||||||||||||
