This index, in a broad sense,is simply defined as follow: ∇=M/N, where M and N indicate the number of multi-trunked or multi-shooting individuals and the number of the whole individuals in a given stand, respectively. Moreover, the index, in a narrow sense, is defined as follows: ∇ç=(M1+M2)/N, where M1 and M2 indicate the number of multi-trunked or multi-shooting individuals and the number of single-trunked or single-shooting individual both of which weremade of artificial cuttings in a given stand, respectively.
