Enzyme-displayed yeast cells were captured in the micro-sized calcium alginate beads each by each using newly developed reverse micelle method to prevent diffusion of hydrolyzed fluorescent substrates. Adopting flow sorting to these captured cells, active cells were successfully enriched.
