Although it is an unconscious cognitive process deeply related to daily activities, extant studies have not investigated the presence of the mere exposure effect in the acquisition of L2 formulaic language. This study examined whether the mere exposure effect can be observed among language learners, and if so, what differences can be observed between proficiency levels. This study included 40 undergraduate and graduate students learning English as a foreign language in Japan. The participants were asked to rate the favorability of 100 high- and low-familiarity formulaic sequences from an existing familiarity list. The results revealed a positive correlation between familiarity and favorability, suggesting the likelihood of the mere exposure effect. Furthermore, differences in favorability by proficiency level were observed only for low-familiarity formulaic sequences, indicating the possibility of accumulative influence of the mere exposure effect on the acquisition of formulaic language. These findings suggest the necessity of reconsidering the learning of formulaic language from the perspective of utilizing the learners’ unconscious cognitive processes in the context of English language learning.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_2_description_36":{"attribute_name":"内容記述","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"専攻(松田): 応用言語学","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_2_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15100/00022888","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_2_publisher_14":{"attribute_name":"出版者 名前","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"近畿大学総合社会学部"}]},"item_2_source_id_22":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"21866260","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_2_text_7":{"attribute_name":"著者(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_language":"en","subitem_text_value":"MATSUDA, Noriko"},{"subitem_text_language":"en","subitem_text_value":"MURATA, Kentaro"}]},"item_2_text_8":{"attribute_name":"著者 所属","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"近畿大学総合社会学部; 准教授"},{"subitem_text_value":"近畿大学総合社会学部; 2021年度卒業生"}]},"item_2_text_9":{"attribute_name":"著者所属(翻訳)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_text_value":"Kindai University"},{"subitem_text_value":"Kindai University"}]},"item_2_version_type_12":{"attribute_name":"版","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_be7fb7dd8ff6fe43","subitem_version_type":"NA"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"松田, 紀子","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"マツダ, ノリコ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"村田, 健太郎","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"ムラタ, ケンタロウ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2023-12-22"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"AA1253453X-20220930-0039-2.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.3 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"AA1253453X-20220930-0039-2.pdf","url":"https://kindai.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/22917/files/AA1253453X-20220930-0039-2.pdf"},"version_id":"669167b6-20c3-48a6-8bfd-4f85d1ea57c5"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"① English as a Foreign Language","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"② Formulaic Language","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"③ Mere Exposure Effect","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"④ Familiarity","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"⑤ Favorability","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"<原著論文>「会えば会うほど好きになる」―英語の定型表現の習得における単純接触効果―","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"<原著論文>「会えば会うほど好きになる」―英語の定型表現の習得における単純接触効果―","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":" “The more I see it, the more I like it”: The mere exposure effect in the acquisition of English formulaic language","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"2","owner":"3","path":["4796"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2022-08-05"},"publish_date":"2022-08-05","publish_status":"0","recid":"22917","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["<原著論文>「会えば会うほど好きになる」―英語の定型表現の習得における単純接触効果―"],"weko_creator_id":"3","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-12-28T10:00:05.664874+00:00"}
