| 内容記述 | [ABSTRACT] I will discuss how we could interpret Umberto Eco’s novel “The Name of the Rose” and that this novel has a multi-layered structure. At first glance, this novel seems like a mere mystery of a murder in a medieval monastery in northern Italy, but the actual theme is to introduce the situation of a theological controversy at that time. Moreover, Eco seems to claim that this era of Christian theological controversy has a strong resemblance to the era of terrorism and bloody slaughter in Italy in the 20th century (Gli Anni di Piombo). Finally, this novel seems to assert the position of nominalism. | |||||||||
