| 内容記述 | On September 20, 2006, then Venezuelan President Hugo Chávezused a variety of oratorical techniques to counter Bush’s speech at the 12th Plenary Meeting of the 61st session ofthe United Nations General Assembly the day before, at the same UN podium, using only the power of rhetoric.The speech was given in Spanish, but this paper’s analysis is based on the English translationin the Official Records (https://undocs.org/en/A/61/PV.12). The purpose of this paper is to show that the usage of arrangement by Chávez in his speech corresponds with the ancient traditional usage of arrangement of the five major oratorical canons defined especially by Cicero, through which Chávez gained consistency, persuasion, and impressiveness to move the listeners. | |||||||||
