[Abstract]In this study, there is a growing recognition that it is important to preserve and maintain traditional streetscapes nationwide in Japan, the awareness of actively maintaining the landscape is increasing, especially waterside villages around Lake Biwa in Shiga prefecture are increasing. Targeting villages, clarify the relationship between residents and water and the channel network, and create effective materials for promoting waterside town development nationwide. Seven villages were surveyed and classified into five waterway systems. There are two major canal systems, an irrigation canal and a drainage canal, but in Kamiogawa, a water utilization facility called KAWATO and KABATA are used together, which is a unique case where the canal is combines water supply and drainage. In addition, from the hearing survey, it is considered that the awareness of local governments and residents regarding water culture and whether or not artesian wells are used for the lives of residents influences the selection of important cultural landscapes. From the above, we believe that a wide range of cross sectional perspectives from both tangible factors and intangible factors are needed for future “waterside town development.” We hope that this research will lead to an increase in awareness of cultural landscapes in the future, and will contribute to useful materials in promoting waterside community development throughout the country, and will be useful to society. |
