| 内容記述 | [概要] 本論文の目的は20世紀初頭アメリカ南部の移民政策の特質をペオネージ制の観点から考察することにある。南部では渡航費や生活物資を移民に貸付け，返済困難な状態に追い込み，強制的に働かせるペオネージ制が横行した。その結果，南部の労働現場は連邦司法省のペオネージ調査の対象となった。 [Abstract] The purpose of this paper is to consider the features of the immigration policy in the Southern part of the United States from the viewpoint of the debt peonage regime in the early Twentieth Century. In the southern states, the debt servitude regime was characterized by harsh labor, indebtedness, and the spread of violence. As a result, the southern labor camps became the object of a federal justice department peonage investigation followed the anti-peonage law. |
