| 内容記述 | [概要]本論は大学において教えるべき英語について再考するものである。「英語が使える日本人」を育成するという観点から，大学生が学ぶべき英語を「①専門分野に必要な英語力」「②社会人にとっての日常英語」「③広範で高度な教養英語」の３種類に分類する。そして，それぞれどのような形で授業運営をするべきかを考察する。「②社会人にとっての日常英語」は TOEIC® Program を活用し，「③広範で高度な教養英語」を合理的に教えるには直近の話題を扱う「時事英語」の授業を設置するべきであると提案する。 [Abstract] This paper reconsiders the types of English to be taught at universities. From the perspective of nurturing “Practical use of English by Japanese,” university English could be categorized into the following three categories: (1) English skills required for specialized fields, (2) Daily English for working adults, and (3) Highly-cultivated English used in extensive topics. The author then considers how each class should be managed. Furthermore, this paper proposes that for teaching “(2) Daily English for working adults” the TOEIC® Program should be utilized, and that for effectively teaching “(3) Highly-cultivated English used in extensive topics,” “Current English” classes should be set up to get in touch with, understand and discuss the latest social issues. |
