Information on sightings and captures of the alien centipede, Otostigmus scaber, was obtained from five locations in Osaka and Hyogo Prefecture, and one each in Nara Prefecture and Kyoto Prefecture. Reports on sightings and captures of this species have been received from more than one location, including four in Kobe City and three in Osaka City. This species has been found primarily in artificial environments such as houses, gardens and greenhouses in residential areas inland, away from ports and coastal areas. Further research is needed to understand the detailed distribution and invasion pathways of this species to prevent future expansion of its range. |
