| 内容記述 | 本研究では日本の近代水陸交通が英国と比べて，時間的・空間的にどのような地域的変化がみられたのか，共通性の有無などを比較検討し，水陸交通の変化がもたらした地域の影響を歴史GISの手法を用いて明らかにすることを研究目的とした。研究成果として，大きく2点挙げられる。1点目は資料収集した古文書群や文献等のデジタル・アーカイブ化に向けた整理や撮影も行い，解析を進めることができた。2点目は英国での現地調査のデータ整理および英国の水陸交通に関するGISデータベースの構築を行った。研究期間全体を通じて，近代日本における水陸交通と英国を比較することで，両国の水陸交通の特徴が浮き彫りにできた。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | This study examines regional transformations in modern Japan’s land and water transportation in comparison with those of the United Kingdom, with a focus on temporal and spatial dimensions. Using historical Geographic Information Systems (GIS) methods, it investigates whether common patterns or divergences exist between the two contexts and clarifies how transportation changes influenced regional development. Two primary outcomes were achieved. First, a significant body of historical documents and literature was organized and digitized to support GIS-based analysis. Second, fieldwork in the UK led to the development of a comprehensive GIS database on UK transport systems. Through this comparative approach, the study identifies the distinctive features of land and water transport in both countries and contributes to a deeper understanding of their historical geographies. | |||||||||
