| 内容記述 | 本研究では、英語を外国語とする日本人英語学習者が、同じ綴りであるにも関わらず複数の意味を持つとされる同綴異義語（homograph）を英文読解時に視覚的に認知する際に、心内でどのように処理するのかを検証した。実験として、初級・中級程度の日本人英語学習者を対象として、同綴異義語を含む英文を用いて、自己ペース読み課題を基にした複合課題を実施した。初級・中級の学習者は、英文読解の処理速度が上級者ほど速くなく、語彙知識の量も限定的であるが、上級者と同様に同綴異義語の前出の文脈の違いや、同綴異義語の持つ複数の意味頻度の違いが、同綴異義語自体の処理に影響を及ぼすことが部分的に示唆された。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This study investigated how Japanese learners of English as a foreign language (EFL) cognitively process English homographs, words with identical spellings but multiple meanings during visual recognition while reading sentences. A computer-based psycholinguistic experiment using self-paced reding task was conducted with beginner to intermediate Japanese EFL learners. It's likely that the processing speed of homographs for beginner and intermediate learners is slower than that of advanced learners, and their vocabulary knowledge is more limited. However, the findings also suggest that beginner to intermediate Japanese learners process homographs partially in a similar manner to advanced learners, provided they have full knowledge of the homographs' multiple meanings. | |||||
