| 内容記述 | 本研究は1927年ミシシッピ川大洪水の被災地の実態および地域差の要因を一次史料に基づき解明した。研究によって解明された点は次の通りである。本研究は、災害を機とする避難所の実態について人種問題だけでなく、避難所の比較分析を重視した。その結果、第1に、避難所の状況は良好なニューオーリンズとメンフィス、劣悪なグリーヴィルに分類された。第2に、黒人諮問委員会とNAACPの調査報告は避難所の状況について異なる内容であった。その結果、大規模災害は人種差別撤廃運動の機運を高めたが、同時に、黒人指導者の分断を浮き彫りにした。第3に、黒人被災者は北部に移住する者と堤防事業に従事した者に分かれた。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | This study clarified the actual conditions of the areas affected by the 1927 Mississippi River Flood and the factors of regional differences based on primary historical sources. This research focuses on improvements in race relations during relief, comparative analysis of race relations during the flood. As a result, Firstly, African Americans in New Orleans and Memphis were treated far better than in the Greenville. Secondly, Investigation reports by the Black Advisory Committee and the NAACP pointed out the various situations in the refugee camps. The 1927 Mississippi river flood boosted the momentum of the anti-racial movement, but it highlighted the conflict between black leaders. Thirdly, black victims were divided into those who migrated to the North and those who worked on the levee projects. | |||||||||
