| 内容記述 | 表面に凹凸を形成した白色サンプル（標準刺激）と表面が平滑な白色サンプル（比較刺激）を並置し，一定照度下の標準刺激と白さが等しくなるように，被験者に比較刺激側の光源を調光させ，その時の比較刺激の輝度（主観的等価輝度）を記録した．その結果，主観的等価輝度は標準刺激の平均輝度よりも有意に高く，テクスチャの異方性が低くなると主観的等価輝度は低下した．これは，標準刺激のテクスチャに起因する低輝度部分が規則的な場合，低輝度部分は低反射率部分としてではなく，連続した白い表面の凹凸によって生じた陰として知覚され，低輝度部分の配列の規則性が低下すると，連続した一様な白い表面としての知覚が弱まるためと考えられる． | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | Two white samples were placed side by side across the bulkhead. One sample had an uneven surface (standard stimulus), whereas the other had a smooth surface (comparison stimulus). The observers adjusted the light source illuminating the comparison stimulus to match the whiteness of the comparison stimulus with that of the standard stimulus illuminated at a constant illuminance. The luminance of the comparison stimulus at that time (SEL) was recorded. Results of the experiment showed that the SEL of any standard stimulus was significantly higher than the average luminance of the standard stimuli and that the SEL of the less anisotropic samples was lower. This is because when the standard stimulus ha s a regular texture, the low-luminance parts are perceived not as low-reflectance surfaces but as shades caused by the unevenness of the seamless white surface. As the regularity of an array of low-luminance parts decreases, the perception of a uniformly seamless white surface weakens. | |||||||||
