Electric organ discharges of Gnathonemus petersii were recorded externally, and relationships of electric organ discharge (EOD) intervals in stationary and burst phases were analysed. During the burst phase the temporal resolving power increased from 3.8 to 7 times of that of the stationary phase. Increasing rate in frequency in the burst is steeper in the rising period than that in the falling period. Complex burst mixing with occasional silent phases observed in the resting condition without disturbing stimulus is serving as a confirmation behavior for the environment. |
