| 内容記述 | Using 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), we studied the state of the in vivo water to establish the correlation between the degree of starvation and the spin-lattice (T1) or spin-spin relaxation time (T2) of water protons in muscles of the frog (Rana catesbeiana). Water content of the body weight increased as the period of starvation progressed, and the T1 value aslo increased proportionally to the water content in the frog muscle. The increase in the T2 value was comparable with the T1 value in the same stages. T1 was dependent on the water content of the muscle. T2 was an indication of the degree of interaction of biopolymers within the cells under starvation. | |||||||||
