| 内容記述 | The study was designed to investigate the differences in regeneration ability between motor and sensory nerve fibers after transection of peripheral nerves. On forty-seven 7-to 9-week-old male rats, femoral nerves were transected and repaired with silastic conduit (the control group). In addition to transection of femoral nerves, either radical dorsal (group D) or ventral (group V) rhizotomies were performed on L2-L4 for the regeneration experiments. The extent of nerve regeneration was evaluated electrophysiologically and morphometrically at 2, 4 and 8 weeks after surgery. The data indicate significant increases in conduction velocities and in percent neural tissue of motor nerve fibers compared to those of sensory nerve fibers. These results imply that nerve regeneration and functional recovery of motor nerve fibers proceed successfully compared with sensory nerve fibers. | |||||||
