| 内容記述 | The central axonal neuropathy following 2,5-hexanedione (2,5-HD) administration was studied electrophysiologically and histopathologically. Male rats were given 0.5% 2,5-HD in their drinking water for 4, 6 or 8 weeks. Spinal motor conduction velocity was measured by direct electrical stimulation and examined histopathologically by electron microscopy. The spinal motor conduction velocity was reduced after 6 weeks of treatment with 2,5-HD and the cross-sectional area of axon in the pyramidal tract was decreased after 4 weeks of treatment. The number of neurofilaments in the myelinated axons of 2,5-HD treated rats was 42.1% of that in control rats, while the number of microtubules was not significantly different. While the neurofilament to microtubule ratio was greater than 1.0 for the myelinated fibers of control rats, it was less than 1.0 for 30.9% of the myelinated fibers in rats treated with 2,5-HD for 4 weeks. The change in the spinal pyramidal tract was detected relatively early after administration. | |||||||
