内容記述 The present study investigated the responses of the proximal part of the caudal artery from stoke-prone SHR to vasocontractile agents, including alpha-1 receptor stimulating agents with respect to aging and compared them with those of WKY. The responses to the alpha-receptor stimulating agents were also studied in the aortas from stroke-prone SHR and WKY. In the caudal artery, the responses to the receptor-stimulating agents, noradrenaline (Nad), phenylephrine (PhE), methoxamine (Meth), angiotensin II (Ang) and serotonin for 1.5 month-old storke-prone SHR were not different from those for the age-matched WKY, but the responses to these agents with the exception of Nad were larger in the 3 month-old stroke-prone SHR than in the age-matched WKY. The responses to Nad, PhE, Meth and Ang for the 6 month-old stroke-prone SHR were smaller than those for the age-matched WKY, but these to serotonin were larger in stroke-prone SHR than in WKY. The responses to K+ were larger in stroke-prone SHR at 1.5, 3 and 6 months of age than in the age-matched WKY. The pD2 values of Nad, PhE and Meth obtained from stroke-prone SHR were not different from those in WKY at any age tested. In the aorta, the responses to Nad, PhE and Meth in stroke-prone SHR at 1.5, 3 and 6 month of age were larger than those at the age-matched WKY, but the responses to these agents in 6 month-old stroke-prone SHR were not different from those for the age-matched WKY. The pD2 values of Nad, PhE and Meth in stroke-prone SHR at 1.5, 3 and 6 months of age were not different from those for the age-matched WKY. These results suggest that the contractile responses to receptor-mediated drugs in the blood vessels of stroke-prone SHR are affected by aging or blood pressure, but the degree differs according to the kind of blood vessel or the kind of drugs. However, these results also suggest that the affinity of sympathetic alpha-receptors is not affected by blood pressure in the caudal artery and aorta.
