内容記述 It is known that spare receptors exist in some organs including blood vessels and that receptor numbers can be modified by various diseases. In the present study, the author investigated the effect of blood pressure on the spare adrenaline and serotonin receptors in some blood vessels of stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRSP). The number of spare adrenoceptors were larger in the order of the aorta, superior mesenteric artery and caudal artery in both SHRSP and Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY). There were more spare adrenoceptors in WKY than in SHRSP when the three kinds of blood vessels were compared. However, the number of spare serotonin receptors did not differ among the three kinds of blood vessels and were not different between SHRSP and WKY. Spare adrenaline and serotonin receptors were not found in the portal veins in either SHRSP and WKY. These results suggest that the number of spare adrenoceptors differ according to blood vessel and are modified by blood pressure, that there are fewer spare serotonin receptors than adrenaline receptors and that serotonin receptors are hardly affected by blood pressure.
