| 内容記述 | In recent years, rapid urbanization, a declining birthrate and aging population, and progress in environmental problems have led to the need for sustainable urban development. Under these circumstances, historical villages and townscapes that remain throughout the country, such as castle towns and post towns, have been preserved, and urban development has begun to attract attention nationwide. Kumagawajuku, Wakasa Town, Fukui Prefecture, is a post town that has achieved economic development since the early Edo period, mainly by wholesalers who have done various jobs such as lending and borrowing funds, and moving people and horses in and out, mainly by handing over goods by people and horses. It is one of the few areas in Japan where an irrigation canal called the Maekawa River flows, and various types of buildings form a townscape. The purpose of this study is to grasp the history and current status of Kumagawajuku town development, the current state of the waterway network and water conservancy facilities, and to consider the relationship between waterways and town development, and to create useful materials for future town development. | |||||||||||||
