内容記述 As a part of a study on immunotherapy for patients with lung cancer, we examined the effects of IL-2, TNF-α and IFN-γ on peripheral blood monocytes and alveolar macrophages in patients with lung cancer. Compared with healthy volunteers, patients with lung cancer in the non-stimulated group registered a decline in their capacity to produce oxygen radicals ; this was part of the study on peripheral blood monocytes. This suggested that the patients with lung cancer in this group had from decreased levels of immunity. However, it also proved that cytokine stimulation helped boost the ability of patients to produce oxygen radicals to the same level as that found in healthy volunteers. In a study on alveolar macrophages, no difference was found in the oxygen radical production capacity between healthy volunteers and the patients with lung cancer in the non-stimulus group. Cytokine stimulation helped the patients with lung cancer to increase their oxygen radical production capacity to the same level as that found in healthy volunteers. Similar results were obtained in the study on chemotactic activity. As these results suggest, cytotoxicity of alveolar macrophages in patients with lung cancer returned to the same level as that found in healthy volunteers as a result of cytokine (IL-2, TNF-α and IFN-γ) stimulation of the peripheral monocytes and alveolar macrophages. This suggested a possible antineoplastic effect of activated macrophages as a result of cytokine (IL-2, TNF-α and IFN-γ) stimulation.
