To determine the preventative effect of shelf operation on the progression of osteoarthritis in dysplastic hip with moderate degenerative change, we followed the clinical and radiological outcome of surgery treated and non-surgery treated patients. Average follow-up period was 6 years. The hip score and progression of osteoarthritis were slowed down following a shelf operation. For patients with a dysplastic hip in mild degeneration, we recommend that the shelf operation be given due consideration. |
