Preheating the ambient temperature by around 10℃ enables the detection of blood pressure by using the tail artery of rats. However, there is no detailed information regarding the haemodynamic change during preheating, especially in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). To clarify these unknown haemodynamic changes in the conscious stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRSP) and normotensive Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY) during heating, a radiolabelled microsphere method was adopted. In the findings of this survey, systemic haemodynamic changes including mean arterial pressure, total peripheral resistance index, and cardiac index were scarcely seen in either rat group on heating. Only the heart rates of both rat groups were significantly decreased by the thermo-elevation. Thermo-elevation caused an increase or a trend toward an increase in the regional blood flow (RBF) of the tail in SHRSP and WKY, respectively. A marked decrease in RBF of the brain of SHRSP was observed during thermo-elevation, probably due to the hypofunction of the control mechanism in the blood circulation of the brain. |
