| 内容記述 | The relationship between habituation and energy metabolism in crayfish escape reflex was studied in vivo with 31P nuclear magnetic resonance (31P-NMR) spectroscopy. A specimen at rest was placed in an NMR tube with its head downward so that the center of magnetic field was nearly in the center of its abdominal muscles. The spectrum of abdominal muscles of the crayfish (P. clarkii) was recorded at rest, during and after tail-flip movements. After application of the first electrical stimulation on the first antenna, the phosphoarginine (Arg-P) concentration rapidly dropped to about 60% of the control, while inorganic phosphates increased by about 260%. Arg-P signals fell more rapidly, to 70% of the control at the first stimulus, and to 30% at the last stimulus. After repetitive tail-flips, both the adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) concentration and intracellular pH decreased. Phosphagen reserves were replenished within 40 min. The NMR index, calculated from the adenylate energy charge and phosphorus potential, decreased during habituation. Though habituation in the escape response is due to synaptic events, the majority of the muscle energy consumption was achieved during the first and second stimuli, indicating the importance of muscular fatigue as a factor of habituation observed by behavior. | |||||||||
