| 内容記述 | Background : Very low density lipoprotein receptor is a new member of the low density lipoprotein receptor gene family, and tissue distribution of its message differs from that of the well-characterized low density lipoprotein receptor. The distribution of very low density lipoprotein receptor at a cellular level has not been thoroughly examined. Methods : Monoclonal antibodies were established from mice immunized with a synthetic peptide that represents an amino-terminal portion of human very low density lipoprotein receptor. These antibodies were used for immunohistochemical staining of various human tissues. Results : The newly established monoclonal antibodies distinguished very low density lipoprotein receptor from low density lipoprotein receptor. Strong immunoreactivity for the very low density lipoprotein receptor was localized in alveolar macrophages, foam cells in atheromatous plaques, central nervous system neurons, and autonomic nerve ganglion cells of the intestinal tract. Conclusions : Very low density lipoprotein receptor may play physiological roles in the uptake of lipoproteins from plasma and tissue fluids and in maintaining functions of neuronal cells. | |||||||
