| 内容記述 | Campylobacter fetus subspecies fetus meningitis in adults is mainly seen in men over 30 years of age with underlying diseases. The clinical signs are nonspecific, and psychotic symptoms, i.e., lethargy, subcoma, and delirium, are also present. We report the case of a 26-year-old man without underlying disease in whom a schizophrenia-like psychotic state was the presenting manifestation of meningitis caused by Campylobacter fetus subspecies fetus. To our knowledge this is the first case of a schizophrenia-like psychotic state in Campylobacter fetus subspecies fetus meningitis ever reported. Our case suggests that a schizophrenia-like psychotic state can be the presenting manifestation of meningitis caused by Campylobacter fetus subspecies fetus even in a young man without underlying disease. Clinicians should be aware of the possibility of encountering exceptional patients like ours. | |||||||||||
