| 内容記述 | Purpose: To examine the need for psychooncology at Kinki University Hospital (KUH). Subjects and Method: The subjects were patients who received liaison psychiatry between 2003/Sep/1st and 2004/aug/31st. The patients were divided into two groups, cancer patients and non-cancer patients, and investigated based on their medical reports. Both the cancer and non-cancer patients were middle aged. Result: Concerning age, sex and days of admission, there were no significant differences but cancer patients had 20% longer admission periods than non-cancer patients. In both groups, the number of days of admitted varied. Cancer patients were readmitted more times than non-cancer patients. Regarding the primary site of cancer, gastrointestinal system cancer was most common. The next most common was gynecological cancer. Regarding the psychiatric disorders, the most common were psychotic disorders in both groups. The next most common was mood disorders and organic disorders, including delirium and psychogenic disorders. Conclusion: Psychooncology can play a role in mid-to-long term support for patients and striving to improve the state of mind, general environment and QOL of patients' medical treatment is needed. | |||||||
