Despite progress in techniques, bradycardia and cardiac arrest continue to occur during epidural or spinal anesthesia and frequently result in death or brain damage. Vasovagal reactions are most often responsible for such bradycardia and cardiac arrest. We report here a case of cardiac arrest during general anesthesia with epidural anesthesia. The patient was easily resuscitated by prompt administration of atropine and ephedrine. It is necessary for vasovagal reactions to be careful by monitored always during epidural general anesthesia. |
