内容記述 | The spatial learning ability of SHR, SHRSP and WKY rats was studied by using the Morris water maze apparatus. Mature male SHR, SHRSP and WKY rats (14-16 weeks of age) bred in our laboratory were used. The Morris water maze (open field circle water maze) consisted of a white plastic circular plate, 115 cm in diameter and 70 cm at wall height. The pool was filled with water at a temperature of 22±2℃, with the water level 25 cm above the base. Powdered skim milk was rendered to make the water opaque. The platform, made of a white plastic plate, 7 cm in diameter, was set 1 cm below the water level. The Morris water maze spatial learning test was scheduled for 5 days with four trials per day. Behavior was monitored via an overhead video camera. The staying score in each zone per second was counted by replay of the video image of the 60-second free swimming trials on day 1 and day 5. In Zone W, where the escape platform had been set, SHR and WKY showed significantly higher scores than SHRSP. In conclusion, SHR showed better spatial learning ability according to this Morris maze test system than SHRSP or WKY. | |||||||||||||||||
