| 内容記述 | We report the development of new epidemiological research methods on monozygotic twin subjects. By analyzing only cases in which the difference in each pair of test values was relatively small, the correlations between the test items and the relating predisposing factors could be determined precisely. Because twins are born under the same conditions. we obtained theoretical formulae for estimating the prevalence rates of infections transmitted vertically from mother to child and of horizontal infections. These formulae could be employed, in relation to items that are expressed qualitatively, to estimate the influences of the predisposing factors and the main environmental factors in cases where only data from monozygotic twins were available. Both twin subjects have information on their parents. and the information of each twin is linked to that of the other. The source of information on the twins is paired, so that fewer dropouts result due to lack of notification of change of address. and such subjects are more suitable for follow-up surveys. In addition. in questionnaire-type surveys, the reliability of the replies and the appropriateness of the wording of the questions can be judged from the extent to which the replies of both twins coincide. | |||||||||||||||||||||
