A 31-year-old man presented with acute abdominal pain as the chief complaint after 12 hours eating salmon. On October 29 1990, he developed upper abdominal pain and the point of pain moved to the right lower quadrant during the follow up. Leukocyte count was 14.8×10^3 per cubic millimeter and the signs of paralytic ileus were developed under X-ray examination. An emergency operation was carried out because of a diagnosis of paralytic ileus due to acute appendicitis. The appendix was grossly normal and ileum showed the inflammatory change at 60 cm distal from ileum-end and the inflammatory portion of the tunica serosa was resected. An Anisakis larva was detected in the mucosal wall which was moving vigorously. At anamnesis after operation, he recalled having eaten salmon. We report this case of intestinal anisakiasis accompanying ileus caused by eating salmon. |
